We provide excellent hospice care so you can focus on what matters.

We provide excellent hospice care so you can focus on what matters.

We work with patients and families to take care of everything.

It starts with a caring conversation.

A patient, family member or primary caregiver can call us at any time, with or without a referral from a doctor. We have an experienced team standing by to listen to your needs and answer any questions you have regarding hospice care. Contacting us does not obligate you to go forward with hospice care in any way.

We consult with the primary physician.

With permission, we contact the patient’s physician to discuss the possibility and timing of hospice care. Our medical team works with the physician to develop a plan of care that addresses the patient’s individual needs and ensures that the experience is tailored to you and your loved ones.

You can focus on what matters.

The Serenity team makes this transition as easy as possible — so you can focus on what really matters. Hospice care can generally begin the same day we receive an order from the patient’s physician. In some situations this can be within hours of your call.

Levels of Care

As a hospice care provider, we offer hope to patients by helping them to transition successfully when the focus of care changes from cure to comfort. Our experienced team empowers patients and families by emphasizing the treatment of the person and not the disease. Serenity Hospice Care is a source of strength and expertise, providing uniquely tailored services for the mind, body and spirit in Wichita, KS, and the surrounding communities.

As a Serenity Hospice Care patient, in addition to the attending physician, you have the assistance of the hospice team. This team is a group of caring professionals who are committed to you and your family; they work to develop a plan of care that meets your needs and supports your choices throughout your journey.

Hospice levels of care are based upon the patient’s needs and the caregiver’s ability to provide care in an appropriate setting.

Routine Home Care is the level of care provided on an average day where the hospice patient lives.

Respite Care is an alternative care setting where 24-hour nursing is present to provide care. This level of care supports the caregiver during times of fatigue, stress, or illness.

Continuous Care provides “around the clock” care in the patient’s home until symptoms are controlled. This daytime companionship and nighttime support offers needed support when acute symptoms need additional management.

In-Patient Care is provided for brief periods when patient needs cannot be adequately met at home.

  • Thank you for the care you gave Liz during her stay at Westview of Derby Nursing Home. I am preparing her memorial service and can’t help but think of her last days in your care. I appreciate the courtesy and respect you gave her as you sustained her life. I have shared your business with others and recommend your team for friends who have an aging family member. Blessings to you all.

  • Our family recently used your hospice services for the care of our father, Marvin Evans. We are so grateful for having dad at home, where we could spend time with him in his final days. Your staff provided excellent care, but we want to especially give a big thank you to nurse Tony, who went above and beyond to make Marvin’s final days a positive experience for all. In the final minutes of dad’s life on earth, Tony offered to read scripture while we stood at the bed, and within moments after a prayer was said by all, dad passed. We were blessed to have Tony in these moments and will never forget the compassionate care he provided. Thank you for all that you do — we will always speak highly of your organization.

  • How do you express the deepest of gratitude to those who offer compassion and skill to the dying? I’m not sure I will find the right words. So, instead, I’ll tell you all how you made me feel… cared for, listened to, guided by, comforted and understood. You all are a big part of why my dad, Jim (who had lived a very large life), had such a good death. Dad wanted to go out quickly, without pain and he fulfilled that desire, with your help.

The word "hospice" was once used to describe a place of refuge for people on a difficult journey. Our excellent care and deep compassion for patients and families offer a place of comfort on the end-of-life journey. Recognizing that in hospice care, the main guardians are the family caregiver and the hospice team, care is most often provided in the home setting rather than in hospitals and hospice care facilities. The Serenity Hospice Care team will support the patient and family wherever they are.
