Each day, our care team is joined by specially trained volunteers who step with grace and compassion into the lives of our patients, their families and our office team members.
They offer the gift of their time – a presence in the room, a trusted friend, a kind heart – making a huge difference for our patients and their families. They bring their gifts of organization and skill into our office, providing much-needed team support.
Volunteering makes a difference in your life and in the life of someone else. There are many ways to get involved!
Patient Care Volunteers work with those we serve. They may visit persons in their homes or communities to socialize, play games, provide emotional support to family members, run errands, help with household tasks, read books or sit vigil at bedside. They may make phone calls to caregivers or persons who are grieving the death of someone that they love. If you are a great listener, compassionate, empathetic and enjoy getting to know people, patient care volunteering may be a wonderful match for you.
Clerical/Administrative Volunteers keep Serenity Hospice Care running smoothly with a wide range of supportive, back office tasks. These volunteers are detail-oriented, patient and flexible. Opportunities include helping with administrative tasks – such as filing, preparing mailings, putting together packets and other office work. Do you have computer database skills? Jobs are available. If you are organized and independent and enjoy being around people, consider becoming an office volunteer!
You can be involved in volunteering at several levels. Time commitments vary; you may be able to help a few hours a week or a few hours a month. Opportunities are available days, evenings, and weekends. Whether you’re available on a regular schedule or only for a short time, we truly appreciate the ways that you can help.

The word "hospice" was once used to describe a place of refuge for people on a difficult journey. Our excellent care and deep compassion for patients and families offer a place of comfort on the end-of-life journey. Recognizing that in hospice care, the main guardians are the family caregiver and the hospice team, care is most often provided in the home setting rather than in hospitals and hospice care facilities. The Serenity Hospice Care team will support the patient and family wherever they are.
